Germany Unemployment Rises to 3.016 Million in October

Germany's seasonally adjusted unemployment increased by 4,000 people in October, though the total rise was lower than analyst predictions.

Germany's seasonally adjusted unemployment rose by 4,000 people in October, bringing the total number of unemployed individuals to 3.016 million. According to data released Friday by the labour office, this increase was lower than the 5,000 rise predicted by analysts in a Reuters poll. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 6.4%.

In contrast, the non-seasonally adjusted unemployment figure fell by 40,000 to 2.955 million, marking the second consecutive month that this specific metric remained below 3 million. Job openings registered in October totaled 654,000, representing an increase of 31,000 compared to October of the previous year.

Despite the rise in job openings, Andrea Nahles, head of the labour office, stated that "the economic conditions are still not sufficient for an improvement in the labour market."
