Coast Guard Searches for Missing Medical Jet Near Nantucket
The United States Coast Guard is searching for a Latitude Air Ambulance jet carrying six people that disappeared en route from Bermuda to Boston.
The United States Coast Guard launched an urgent search operation on Saturday, October 3, 2026, for a missing Gulfstream G100 air ambulance jet. The aircraft, operated by the Canadian company Latitude Air Ambulance, disappeared while transporting four crew members and two passengers on a medical evacuation mission from Bermuda to Boston.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported losing contact with the plane early Saturday morning. FlightAware data shows the aircraft plummeted from 25,000 feet to approximately 11,000 feet shortly after 1:00 a.m., with the final signal recorded around 1:30 a.m.
Search efforts involving air and surface crews from Cape Cod, Brant Point, and William Sparling are currently concentrated near Nantucket, Massachusetts. Clarence Togeretz, Director of Flight Operations for Latitude Air Ambulance, expressed concern over the lack of communication from the crew but maintained an optimistic outlook regarding the situation. The National Transportation Safety Board is gathering information to investigate the disappearance.
