Cockroach Janta Party Calls Nationwide Youth Protest Against Election Chief

The Cockroach Janta Party is mobilizing a nationwide youth protest on October 10 in New Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has called for a nationwide mobilization on October 10 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The youth-led movement alleges that Kumar subverted democratic processes to benefit the BJP-led government and cites irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, including the failure to include Gen Z citizens in voter lists.

CJP leaders, including founder Abhijeet Dipke and spokesperson Saurav Das, claim the government is attempting to thwart the demonstration through intimidation. They allege that party leadership faces imminent arrest under the National Security Act and that police in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, have pressured activists to avoid the march by questioning their travel funds. Das has formally notified the Delhi Police of the event, though authorities have not yet granted official permission.

The CJP has aligned its efforts with the INDIA bloc and several student organizations, including the All India Students' Association, to seek a comprehensive overhaul of the electoral system. This escalation follows a series of violent protests in New Delhi by the National Students’ Union of India and the Indian Youth Congress, which resulted in numerous detentions and injuries to police personnel.

The Election Commission of India has rejected claims of institutional dissent or irregularities, maintaining that all decisions regarding the electoral roll revision were made unanimously. Meanwhile, CJP activists characterize the government's response as dictatorial, asserting that the mobilization will proceed regardless of potential detentions.
