Huntington Ingalls Industries Reports 36.8% Earnings Surge

Huntington Ingalls Industries reported second-quarter net earnings of $208 million and raised its full-year shipbuilding revenue target to approximately $10.3 billion.

Huntington Ingalls Industries reported a 36.8% surge in second-quarter net earnings to $208 million, or $5.27 per share, significantly exceeding Wall Street estimates of $3.82 per share. Total revenue for the period increased 10.9% year-over-year to $3.4 billion.

Growth was primarily driven by the company's shipbuilding divisions. The Newport News Shipbuilding division saw a 15.3% revenue increase tied to aircraft carrier and submarine work, while the Ingalls Shipbuilding division grew 16.7% through amphibious assault ship production.

Following these results, management raised the full-year shipbuilding revenue target to approximately $10.3 billion and increased the operating margin target to 6.25%. The company also reaffirmed a free cash flow forecast of approximately $550 million. These financial gains coincided with a more than 13% increase in the company's share price over the past week.
