Cockroach Janta Party Slams Rs 92 Crore Minister Home Repairs

The Cockroach Janta Party criticized the Indian government after Right to Information data revealed that the Central Public Works Department spent Rs 92.35 crore during 2025-26 on the repair, renovation, and furnishing of official residences for Union ministers in Delhi.

The party argued that these funds could have financed 10 new world-class government schools, alleging a lack of intent to prioritize education infrastructure. The group demanded that officials "Stop fixing your lavish homes, and fix the schools!"

Central Public Works Department officials defended the expenditure, stating the funds were necessary to address structural safety, seepage, termite attacks, and aging electrical and plumbing systems in colonial-era bungalows that are 80 to 100 years old. Data shows spending on these residences has risen significantly over the last decade, increasing from Rs 27.47 crore in 2014-15 to the current peak, with a cumulative spend of Rs 547.68 crore over 12 financial years.
