Vanguard Value ETFs Hit Record Highs as SpaceX Stock Plummets
The Vanguard Group's Value and High Dividend Yield ETFs reached all-time highs while SpaceX shares dropped 52% from their peak following a massive 2025 loss.
The Vanguard Value ETF (VTV) and Vanguard High Dividend Yield ETF (VYM) reached all-time highs in 2026, outperforming both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite. The Vanguard Group achieved these gains through earnings-based growth from established companies, including top holdings such as Micron Technology, Broadcom, Caterpillar, and JPMorgan Chase.
These results stand in contrast to the performance of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX), which saw its stock price fall 52% from its all-time high. SpaceX shares closed at $108.37 on July 31, the lowest price since the company's public offering on June 12. The decline follows a reported net loss of $4.94 billion for the company in 2025.
Despite the stock's volatility and losses, nine Vanguard ETFs continue to hold and purchase SpaceX shares. Market analysts attribute the strength of the Value and High Dividend Yield ETFs to their lower price-to-earnings ratios and higher dividend yields compared to growth-oriented funds like the Vanguard Growth ETF (VUG).
