Google Releases Android 17 QPR1 and QPR2 Beta 5

Google released the Android 17 QPR1 update as part of the September 2026 Pixel Feature Drop for supported devices, including the Pixel 6 series through the Pixel 11 lineup and the original Pixel Fold. This update introduces Material 3 Expressive visual changes, such as translucent blur effects and a redesigned media player carousel, alongside a new Pause Point feature in Digital Wellbeing. The QPR1 release also resolves over 100 security issues and 20 Pixel-specific bugs affecting connectivity, system crashes, and gaming performance.

Simultaneously, the company released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 for Pixel devices ranging from the Pixel 6a to the Pixel 11 series. This beta build focuses on stability and bug fixes, specifically targeting a critical issue that caused unexpected device reboots during continuous UI scrolling in media-heavy applications. Other fixes in the beta include resolving camera crashes during panorama processing, Bluetooth audio distortion after calls, and unresponsive touchscreens when launching Google Wallet via power button shortcuts.
