Sony Releases PS5 Beta Firmware with Pro Image Enhancements
Sony released a public beta firmware update for PS5 and PS5 Pro adding image quality improvements and a Bluetooth toggle for esports venues.
Sony released a public beta branch of the PS5 system software on August 6, 2026, introducing stability improvements and specialized features for the PS5 Pro. The update implements an Enhance PSSR Image Quality setting by default for PS5 Pro users, which utilizes PSSR 2.0 technology to boost image quality in games that only support the previous version of PSSR.
The firmware also introduces a Turn Off Bluetooth setting available in specific countries and regions. This feature is intended strictly for managing controller connections at esports venues. When this Bluetooth toggle is activated, the console's rest mode and HDMI link functionality are disabled.
