Saudi Arabia to Expand Oil Pipeline Capacity to 10 Million Barrels
Saudi Arabia plans to increase oil pipeline capacity to 10 million barrels a day to bypass the Persian Gulf and mitigate Houthi infrastructure attacks.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Energy Minister of Saudi Arabia, announced plans to expand the kingdom's oil pipeline capacity to destinations outside the Persian Gulf to 10 million barrels a day within two to three years.
The initiative seeks to increase national resilience in response to ongoing Houthi attacks targeting energy and aviation infrastructure. To achieve this capacity increase, the government will improve pumping stations on the East-West pipeline and repurpose an existing gas pipeline to transport crude oil.
