Connecticut and Vermont Set August 11 Primary Elections

Connecticut and Vermont will both hold primary elections on August 11, 2026, to determine party nominees for various federal and state offices. In Connecticut, the gubernatorial primary features incumbent Governor Ned Lamont facing a challenge from State Representative Josh Elliott. Other key contests include a four-way Democratic primary for the first U.S. House district and several Republican congressional nominations.

A contentious state senate race in Connecticut sees incumbent Doug McCrory, who is currently under FBI investigation regarding the direction of state funding to nonprofits, facing challenges from Maryam Khan and Ayana Taylor. Khan, a state representative and teacher, has argued that McCrory's distractions prevent him from addressing district education issues. McCrory has maintained that no constituents have asked him to stop.

In Vermont, the Democratic nomination for governor is contested by Aly Richards and Amanda Janoo, while the lieutenant governor race features Molly Gray and Ryan McLaren. Unlike Connecticut, which requires party registration three months in advance, Vermont allows voters to register on Election Day.
