Petronas Increases 2027 Government Dividend to $7.8 Billion
Petroliam Nasional Berhad will raise its 2027 dividend payment to the Malaysian government by 19% following a period of high energy prices.
Petroliam Nasional Berhad will increase its dividend payment to the Malaysian government by 19% to $7.8 billion for 2027. This follows a period of volatility in 2026, during which dividends were revised upward to $6.6 billion after oil prices surged due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and war in Iran.
The Malaysia Ministry of Finance expects total petroleum-related revenue to reach $15 billion in 2027, provided global crude oil prices remain stable. The government's 2027 budget estimates a 4.7% rise in overall government revenue.
Financial growth for the state-owned energy giant was supported by a 15% rise in revenues during the first half of 2026, fueled by higher energy prices, LNG exports, and domestic production. To expand its upstream capabilities, the company recently launched Searah, a joint venture with Italy's Eni to explore discoveries in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Suriname.
