Mayank Jha Outlines AIF Growth Potential for India

Mayank Jha identifies Alternative Investment Funds as a critical lever for securing private capital to achieve India's Viksit Bharat development goals.

Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group Mayank Jha stated that India's Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) industry has significant growth potential to drive national economic expansion. Speaking at the 4th CII Alternative Investment Fund Summit 2026 in Mumbai, Jha noted that alternative assets currently comprise only 6 percent of India's asset management industry, a sharp contrast to the 19 percent global average.

Jha compared the current state of AIFs, which have commitments around 17.5 lakh crores, to the mutual fund industry in 2016 before its rapid expansion. He identified AIFs as a crucial lever for securing the private capital necessary to meet the Viksit Bharat development goals.

Beyond domestic capital, Jha emphasized the need for policy interventions to make the framework for attracting foreign capital more attractive. He also highlighted artificial intelligence as a major opportunity for the sector to support India's long-term economic ambitions.
