Emporio Armani Appoints Dario Vitale as Creative Director
Emporio Armani appointed Dario Vitale as creative director for the brand and Giorgio Armani accessories, marking the first time a non-family member held the role.
Dario Vitale became the new creative director of Emporio Armani on Wednesday. In a historic move for the fashion house, Vitale will also serve as the creative director of Giorgio Armani accessories, the first time an individual outside the Armani family has been granted that specific authority.
Vitale joins the company following a brief eight-month tenure as creative director at Versace, from which he departed abruptly in December. His professional background includes a previous role as design director at Miu Miu under Miuccia Prada.
The appointment occurs as the Armani empire manages creative stagnation following the death of founder Giorgio Armani last September. The company is also working to fulfill a mandate in the founder's will to sell a 15 percent stake in the business by March 2027. Silvana Armani and Leo Dell’Orco, heads of women's and men's wear design respectively, welcomed Vitale to the team.
