Belize Launches Children's Climate Report and New National Stamps
The Ministry of Sustainable Development and UNICEF released a climate analysis report for children and unveiled a new series of national stamps.
The Ministry of Sustainable Development, in partnership with UNICEF, launched the Climate Landscape Analysis for Children report to guide national policy and legislation in Belize. Developed following consultations in vulnerable communities, the report identifies specific climate risks faced by youth, indigenous populations, and pregnant or lactating women.
Minister Orlando Habet stated that the information is essential for determining whether existing legislation requires amendments or if new laws must be built to address geographical vulnerabilities and climate change. UNICEF Representative Sajid Ali emphasized the necessity of placing children at the center of climate discussions, noting that young people constitute a large part of the Belizean population.
Simultaneously, the Belize Postal Service introduced its 2026 definitive stamp collection. Postmaster General Marsha Price noted that the images, which feature cultural events like Carnival and the Queen of the Bay Pageant, were selected to promote the history and culture of Belize to an international audience.
