Elon Musk Hints at Tesla and SpaceX Merger

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, hinted at a potential merger between the two companies during a podcast interview on September 15, 2026. He noted that collaboration between the electric vehicle maker and the commercial rocket company is increasing, specifically regarding microchip development and shared research and development at a manufacturing campus in Austin, Texas.

While Musk did not confirm a definitive plan or timeline, he stated, "With all this collaboration on so many levels, who can imagine what action one might take."

Wall Street brokerages, including Barid and RBC, have predicted a merger since SpaceX went public in June 2026. Analysts suggest such a move would allow Musk to control the entire artificial intelligence value chain by leveraging synergies between Tesla's vehicle training and SpaceX's integration of xAI and X.
