Ryanair Invests €50 Million in Shannon Airport Engineering Hub

Ryanair announced a €50 million investment to expand its engineering operations at Shannon Airport, establishing the airline's largest aircraft maintenance facility in Ireland. The project centers on the construction of a new four-bay maintenance, repair, and overhaul hangar and the creation of a dedicated Ryanair Engineering Academy.

Pending planning approval, construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with the facility becoming operational in late 2028. The expansion aims to create 400 highly skilled jobs, including 80 apprenticeships, and intends to train over 400 aircraft mechanics between 2027 and 2031. The initiative is supported by Enterprise Ireland as part of a strategic effort to position Ireland as a primary European center for aviation engineering.

Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson stated that the project focuses on jobs, skills, and growth, noting that the expansion will train the next generation of mechanics. Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke described the announcement as evidence of Irish multinational ambition.
