Mamata Banerjee May Join Protest Against Election Commissioner

Mamata Banerjee announced she may join an October 10 protest in Delhi demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced she may participate in a protest organized by the Cockroach Janata Party on October 10 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The demonstration demands the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Election Commission of India of a joint conspiracy to undermine the polling process in West Bengal, specifically citing electoral malpractices and unfair deletions from electoral rolls. She stated that these concerns require the attention of national political leaders.

Beyond the election dispute, Banerjee criticized the Delhi Police for their treatment of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra during protests on October 6. She indicated her intention to approach President Droupadi Murmu regarding the police action. Meanwhile, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh alleged that Banerjee's flight to Delhi was intentionally delayed to disrupt her scheduled programs.
