Walmart Launches Bundled Walmart+ and Sam's Club Membership
Walmart introduced a joint annual membership combining Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus for $120 to increase consumer value and grow high-margin revenue.
Walmart launched a joint membership on Tuesday that bundles its Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus services for $120 per year. The offering is nearly $100 cheaper than purchasing the two annual memberships separately, though it does not include a monthly payment option.
Members receive access to Sam's Club warehouses, free delivery from both retailers, gas savings, and 2% Sam's Club cash on eligible purchases. The bundle also includes a subscription to either Paramount+ or Peacock. Walmart extended the joint membership to its employees as a corporate benefit.
CEO John Furner stated the company is raising expectations for membership delivery to provide customers with more money and time. The strategy aims to assist consumers facing high fuel and food prices while growing high-margin membership revenue. In the fiscal second quarter, Walmart+ saw a 17% global revenue increase, while Sam's Club grew by 6%. CFO John David Rainey noted that the company is lowering prices to help customers weather economic uncertainty.
