ICE Detains Spanish National at Houston Airport

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Yasmin Suarez Reyes in late July at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Suarez Reyes, a Spanish citizen from Venezuela, was traveling with her fiancé to a furniture industry convention in Las Vegas when federal agents detained her for deportation processing. Although she had entered the country legally under the Visa Waiver Program and maintains a pending asylum application with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, officials detained her because her initial legal permission to remain in the United States had expired.

Suarez Reyes is currently being held at the Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe, Texas. Her fiancé, John Gannon, a Texas businessman, has publicly criticized the administration's deportation crackdown. Gannon claimed that immigration agents are targeting law-abiding citizens and damaging domestic stability through these enforcement actions.
