Brazil Oil Production Hits Record 4.5 Million Barrels Daily

Brazil achieved a record high oil production of 4.5 million barrels per day in June, marking a 19 percent increase from the previous year. This surge was largely driven by Petrobras, which operated offshore platforms such as Búzios above their intended design capacities. According to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, total combined oil and natural gas production reached 5.8 million barrels of oil equivalent per day during the same month, though levels have declined slightly since that peak.

The increase in Brazilian output serves to mitigate global supply shortages resulting from conflict between the United States and Iran. This fighting has specifically disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway that previously handled approximately one-fifth of the global oil supply.
