JD Vance to Hold CBS News Town Hall in Michigan
Vice President JD Vance will participate in a CBS News town hall in Michigan to address voters ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
JD Vance will participate in a one-hour CBS News town hall in Michigan, scheduled to air on October 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Moderated by CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil, the special titled Things That Matter will feature the Vice President answering voter questions on affordability, tariffs, immigration, health care, artificial intelligence, the war with Iran, and the state of American democracy.
The event is part of a broader Trump administration effort to secure the House and Senate in the midterm elections. Michigan serves as a critical battleground state this cycle, with voters deciding a gubernatorial election and a closely watched Senate race between Republican Mike Rogers and Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, alongside several competitive House races.
The broadcast will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+. The event aligns with a strategy by CBS editor-in-chief Bari Weiss to increase the frequency of high-profile town halls and newsmaker events.
