Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore began a three-day joint maritime security exercise in the Riau Islands to strengthen coordination in critical regional waterways.
The Indonesia Maritime Security Agency, the Singapore Police Coast Guard, and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency launched a three-day joint maritime security exercise in the Riau Islands starting August 10, 2026. The drill involves 60 personnel from the three nations and coincides with a high-level meeting on tripartite coast guard cooperation.
The exercise focuses on strengthening coordination and safety in critical waterways, specifically the Malacca Strait, Singapore Strait, and Natuna Sea. Officials from Indonesia and Malaysia stated the drill allows the agencies to exchange best practices and information to maintain regional maritime security.
