Imax Reports Record Third Quarter Growth Driven by Nolan Film

Imax Corporation posted record third-quarter revenue and profit growth fueled by the 70mm release of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.

Imax Corporation reported record global box office, revenue, and profit growth for the third quarter of 2026. The company's quarterly global box office reached $712 million, while revenue rose 64 percent to $174.6 million and net income surged over 400 percent to $117.1 million. These results were driven largely by the 70mm release of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.

Following agreements for 105 theater systems, the company now forecasts it will exceed its full-year 2026 guidance for a record $1.4 billion in global box office. Future growth strategies include piloting new ultra-premium concept auditoriums and expanding 70mm film locations by 10 to 15 sites.

Imax will screen the David Fincher film The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth across 550 locations starting November 25, ahead of its December 23 Netflix debut. While AMC Theatres will support this release strategy, Cinemark and Regal have declined to participate.
