William Ruto Leads Kenyan Delegation to 81st UN General Assembly

President William Ruto will lead the Kenyan delegation to the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York City. Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei stated that the president's attendance is necessary for high-level negotiations that cannot be delegated, ensuring Kenya can lobby for key development agendas.

The global meeting will address peace and security, climate change, artificial intelligence, good governance, and United Nations reforms. A primary point of deliberation will be the election of the next UN Secretary General as the term of Antonio Guterres nears its end.

Sing’oei noted that previous attendances by Ruto contributed to the deployment of Kenyan police officers to stabilize Haiti and the expansion of the UN Nairobi Office into a global hub.
