Early Voting Begins in Delaware and West Virginia

Delaware and West Virginia opened early voting sites on October 21 for several contested U.S. Senate and state-level races.

Early voting commenced on October 21 in both Delaware and West Virginia, opening polling sites for a series of contested federal and state elections. In Delaware, registered voters can use regular voting machines at various locations, including six sites in New Castle County, through November 1. The state's contested races include the U.S. Senate, congressional seats, and state-level offices for attorney general and state treasurer.

West Virginia's early voting period runs through October 31 at sites such as the Judge Black Annex and other community locations. The state requires voters to present a photo ID and provides electronic ballot returns for overseas citizens and first responders. A primary focus in West Virginia is the U.S. Senate seat, where incumbent Republican Shelly Moore Capito is challenged by Democrat Rachel Fetty Anderson.

Additionally, West Virginia voters are deciding on a constitutional amendment that would require voters to be citizens of both the United States and West Virginia. Local authorities, including the Wood County Clerk’s Office, are providing guidance on voter registration and the postmarking of absentee ballots.
