Meta Partners With AWS and Energy Startups for AI Power

Meta Platforms secured tens of millions of AWS Graviton cores and partnered with energy startups for space-based solar and long-duration storage to power its AI infrastructure.

Meta Platforms Inc. expanded its artificial intelligence infrastructure through a series of strategic computing and energy agreements in April 2026. The company integrated tens of millions of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Graviton processing cores into its resources to support the development of agentic AI. This move aims to diversify compute sources and improve data processing speeds for autonomous systems serving billions of users globally.

To address the massive electricity demands of its data centers, Meta entered into agreements with Overview Energy and Noon Energy. Meta reserved up to 1 gigawatt of space-based solar power from Overview Energy, which will use satellites in geosynchronous orbit to beam near-infrared light to terrestrial solar farms. An orbital demonstration is scheduled for 2028, with commercial delivery expected by 2030.

Additionally, Meta partnered with Noon Energy to secure up to 1 GW/100 GWh of long-duration energy storage using reversible solid oxide fuel cells. A pilot project for this 100-hour storage technology is expected to be online by 2028. These initiatives complement Meta's broader $50 billion investment in U.S. data center projects and its existing portfolio of nuclear and geothermal energy sources.
