Pakistan Mediates Regional Ties as Iran Reacts to US Elections
Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held diplomatic talks with Saudi and Iranian officials while Iranian leadership responded to Democratic gains in US midterm elections.
Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar conducted a series of diplomatic engagements on November 4, 2026, to promote regional stability. Dar held a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan to urge diplomatic solutions to regional crises and reduce tensions. Dar also met with Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam in Islamabad to review bilateral ties and discuss the regional security situation.
These diplomatic efforts occurred as Iranian leadership reacted to the 2026 US midterm elections, in which Democrats secured majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf characterized the results as a public rejection of war and warned Washington against further military action.
Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei offered a more skeptical view, asserting that US hostility toward Iran would persist regardless of which political party holds power. Khamenei cautioned against submission to the United States and predicted the end of American hegemony.
