Sabanci Renewables Surpasses 1 GW Capacity With Texas Solar Project

Sabanci Renewables is developing the Alina Solar Power Plant, a 220 MWdc utility-scale project located in southern Texas near San Antonio. The facility is expected to generate approximately 400 GWh of electricity annually and is scheduled to begin commercial operations in the third quarter of 2028.

This project represents the company's fifth utility-scale development in the United States, bringing its total U.S. portfolio capacity to over 1 GW in less than four years. The expansion is driven by increasing electricity demand from data centers, digital infrastructure, and AI-driven industries.

As a subsidiary of Sabanci Holding, the company plans to further diversify its operations by entering new markets, specifically MISO and PJM. Sabanci Renewables has already begun negotiations with third parties regarding tax equity, project financing, and long-term electricity sales agreements.
