Apple Increases Device Trade-In Values to Recover RAM Components

Apple Inc. raised trade-in credits for iPhones, iPads, and Macs in the U.S. and Canada to recover hardware during a global RAM crisis.

Between May 27 and May 30, 2026, Apple Inc. updated its trade-in programs in the United States and Canada, increasing credit values for a wide array of its hardware. The company raised estimates for the iPhone 16 series, with the base model increasing by $25 to $460 and the Pro Max reaching $695. Boosts also applied to the iPad Pro, which rose by $20 to $690, and the MacBook Air and Mac mini, both of which increased by $35.

These adjustments are attributed to a global RAM crisis, as the company seeks to rescue and reuse components from older devices. While many products saw gains, some experienced declines, including the first-generation Apple Watch Ultra and the Mac Pro. The Mac Studio saw a notable increase to $1,045.

Simultaneously, Apple reduced trade-in valuations for competing Android devices. The maximum offer for Android hardware dropped from $370 to $360, with specific payout reductions for the Google Pixel 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Trade-in values are provided as Apple Gift Cards or credits toward new purchases, with final amounts depending on the device's condition and configuration.
