Abdullahi Ganduje Dismisses Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso 2027 Ticket

Former All Progressives Congress National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje dismissed the proposed 2027 presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the alliance as "dead on arrival" in Kano State. Ganduje questioned the leadership records of both candidates, arguing that Obi lacked sufficient experience as governor of Anambra State and that Kwankwaso failed to secure two consecutive terms as governor of Kano.

In response to these criticisms, the NDC and the Obidient Movement defended the ticket. NDC Deputy National Publicity Secretary Abdulmumin Abdulsalam claimed Ganduje is no longer popular in Kano, while Obidient Movement National Coordinator Yunusa Tanko highlighted the infrastructure and educational legacies of Kwankwaso and the financial record of Obi.

Amidst these disputes, Rabiu Kwankwaso announced that Peter Obi signed a formal agreement to serve only one four-year term if elected in 2027 to ensure the presidency transitions to a Northern candidate. Femi Otubanjo, a research professor at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, rejected this agreement as "hogwash," arguing that a single term is insufficient for governance and does not adequately reassure Northern interests.
