Russian Strikes Destroy WHO Medical Warehouse in Dnipro

Russian forces destroyed a World Health Organization (WHO) humanitarian warehouse in Dnipro, Ukraine, through a series of strikes between August 7 and August 8, 2026. The facility was hit three times over a 24-hour period, resulting in the total loss of the building and approximately $500,000 in emergency health supplies intended for frontline medical facilities. No casualties were reported in the Dnipro attacks, as staff had managed to evacuate 130 of the 300 pallets stored on-site following an initial strike on August 3.

These attacks were part of a broader campaign targeting humanitarian infrastructure. Other hit sites included a Proliska warehouse in Pavlohrad, Save the Children facilities in Sumy, and a UNHCR-leased warehouse in Dnipro previously struck in May. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that at least 10 civilians died and 120 were injured across several regions, including Kharkiv and Odesa, within a single 24-hour window.

WHO officials condemned the strikes, noting that the loss of medicine and equipment reduces the capacity to treat the sick and wounded on the front lines. Doctors Without Borders described the pattern of attacks as a deliberate strategy by Russia to destroy the Ukrainian healthcare system. Since February 2022, the WHO has recorded 3,148 attacks on healthcare in Ukraine, causing 240 deaths and 1,055 injuries.
