Nvidia Qualifies LG Cooling and Battery Systems for AI Factories

Shares of LG Electronics rose over 6% on Tuesday after Nvidia qualified the company's large-scale coolant distribution unit (CDU) for the DSX AI Factory platform. The qualified unit, described as a 2.5-to-2.6-megawatt solution, uses a direct-to-chip liquid-cooling system to manage heat from large AI server clusters. This latest qualification follows previous validations of LG's 600-kilowatt and 1-megawatt CDUs, including a unit in July that passed more than 100 technical criteria.

As part of the broader DSX Ready program, a qualification initiative for partner products meeting Nvidia's reference designs, LG Energy Solution also qualified its JF2 AC Link in the battery energy storage system category. This designation makes LG Energy Solution the only Korean battery manufacturer in the initial lineup, appearing alongside companies such as Tesla and Hitachi Energy.

To support the increasing power and cooling demands of AI infrastructure, LG Electronics recently launched a new air-cooled centrifugal chiller for data centers. Simultaneously, LG Energy Solution is expanding its energy storage system production in North America, with a target capacity of over 50 gigawatt-hours by the end of 2026.
