Yemeni Forces Launch 181 Operations Amid Houthi Missile Strikes

Yemeni armed forces conducted 181 operations against Houthi positions as the militant group launched ballistic missiles and mortar shells into residential areas.

The Yemeni Armed Forces conducted 181 military operations against Houthi positions over a 24-hour period, targeting military sites and equipment across Taiz, Marib, Abyan, Al-Dhalea, and Al-Hudaydah. Army spokesperson Colonel Majed Al-Nazili stated the strikes killed or wounded dozens of fighters, while other military sources claimed approximately 200 Houthi fighters died over 48 hours. In Taiz, government forces specifically targeted Houthi reinforcements in Al-Rubai’i, destroying a tank, a BMB armored fighting vehicle, and six military vehicles.

Simultaneously, Houthi forces escalated attacks on civilian infrastructure. The group launched six ballistic missiles and four drones at residential neighborhoods in Marib and conducted mortar shelling in Al-Dhalea, wounding a woman and a child. In Hodeidah province, a Houthi ballistic missile attack on the Al-Khawkhah district killed three civilians, including a child.

Violence continued into August 19, with Houthi mortar attacks targeting residential areas east of Taiz. One shell struck a family home in Wadi Salh, injuring a ten-year-old girl. The Taiz Health Office reported a wider pattern of violence in the region, recording 69 casualties over a two-week period. The Houthis have not commented on the reports of civilian deaths in Al-Khawkhah.
