Snap Inc. Beats Revenue Projections and Announces AR Glasses

Snap Inc. reported $1.6 billion in quarterly revenue and announced the September commercial launch of its AI-powered augmented reality glasses.

Snap Inc. reported quarterly revenue of $1.6 billion for the period ending June 30, surpassing analyst expectations of $1.54 billion. The 19% increase in revenue was accompanied by an optimistic third-quarter sales forecast of up to $1.74 billion, which exceeds the projected $1.70 billion.

This financial growth coincides with the company's preparation for the September commercial launch of its augmented reality glasses, called Specs. While competitors such as Alphabet Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc. have prioritized investments in AI models and data centers, Snap has concentrated its resources on AI-powered hardware.

Chief Executive Officer Evan Spiegel described the glasses as the company's largest long-term opportunity and the future of computing. Following the report, Snap shares rose more than 12% in extended trading, partially offsetting a 37% decline in the stock's value earlier this year.
