Rufai Oseni Warns Against Complacency Ahead of 2027 Elections

Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni warned Nigerians that the outcome of the 2026 Osun State governorship election should not be viewed as a blueprint for the 2027 general elections. Speaking on Monday, Oseni stated that it is "delusional" to assume the 2027 polls will be easy simply because voters in Osun successfully defended their votes.

Oseni cautioned that political forces and the "federal might" that failed to influence the Osun contest would likely return with perfected strategies and a larger scale of deployment for the general elections. He maintained that his goal is to provide risk assessments to help voters prepare for challenges rather than to frighten them.

These comments follow the Independent National Electoral Commission's Sunday announcement declaring Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the Osun governorship election.
