Ukraine Liberates 16 Villages in Donetsk Counteroffensive

Ukraine's Third Army Corps liberated 277 square kilometers of territory in the Donetsk region during Operation Vivaldi to dislodge Russian forces north of Sloviansk.

The Third Army Corps of Ukraine liberated 16 villages and 277 square kilometers of territory in the Donetsk region as part of a counteroffensive named Operation Vivaldi. Brigadier General Andrii Biletskyi announced the gains, which took place approximately 30 kilometers north of the strategic city of Sloviansk. The operation seeks to seize the ground initiative in the fifth year of the conflict and dislodge Russian troops.

These military advances occur as the Federal Government of Russia demands that Ukraine cede the remaining 20 percent of the Donetsk region to end the fighting. Biletskyi dismissed these ambitions, stating that the Kremlin's plan to seize the Donetsk and Luhansk regions will not be implemented in the foreseeable future.

Separately, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy accused Space Exploration Technologies Corp. of limiting Starlink services. Zelenskiy claimed these limitations crippled Ukrainian drones during Russian missile strikes targeting power infrastructure.
