Amazon Expands Health AI Assistant to All U.S. Customers

Amazon is rolling out its Health AI virtual assistant to all U.S. customers, integrating medical records and retail history to provide personalized wellness guidance.

Amazon.com, Inc. is expanding access to its Health AI virtual assistant to all U.S. customers via the Amazon app and website. Previously exclusive to One Medical members, the tool will be rolled out over several weeks to the general public. Built using Amazon Bedrock, the system employs a multi-agent architecture—including core, sub, auditor, and sentinel agents—to maintain safety and trigger human escalation during clinical uncertainty.

Health AI provides personalized health answers and wellness guidance by analyzing medical history from the nationwide Health Information Exchange, lab results, and Amazon retail purchase history. The assistant can manage prescription refills through Amazon Pharmacy, book appointments, and connect users to providers. While it integrates with One Medical, it also routes users to specialists at partnered institutions such as the Cleveland Clinic and Rush University System for Health.

Eligible U.S. Prime members receive up to five free direct-message care visits for over 30 common conditions. After this limit, telehealth sessions cost $29 per visit, or users can opt for a One Medical membership starting at $99 per year. Amazon states the tool operates in a HIPAA-compliant environment and is intended to support rather than replace professional healthcare providers.
