His departure follows the exit of lead FBI agent Jack Eckenrode and the abrupt resignation of lead prosecutor Joseph diGenova three weeks earlier. DiGenova was removed after superiors grew impatient with the time taken to bring charges.
U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones nominally leads the case, though day-to-day management remains unclear. The Justice Department intends to assign two additional prosecutors to the inquiry to stabilize the investigation.
