Wall Street Executives Predict AI Will Accelerate Management Timelines
JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs executives discuss how agentic AI allows junior employees to manage digital agents and reshape traditional professional apprenticeships.
Executives from leading financial firms detailed the impact of agentic AI on career progression during the Evident AI Symposium in New York. Teresa Heitsenrether, chief data and analytics officer at JPMorgan, stated that junior employees are likely to become managers faster than in previous eras. She explained that these professionals will first lead teams of autonomous digital agents to master workflow responsibilities before transitioning to human management.
At Goldman Sachs, Chief Information Officer Marco Argenti described the firm's youngest professionals as AI natives. He noted that these employees are expanding the traditional apprenticeship model by teaching both their peers and senior leadership how to effectively utilize AI tools to transform their work.
While these shifts offer opportunities for rapid professional growth, Heitsenrether noted that the transition is causing anxiety for employees who developed their skills under older, traditional career models.
