FIS Partners With Anthropic to Launch Financial Crimes AI Agent
Fidelity National Information Services partnered with Anthropic to create an AI tool that reduces anti-money laundering investigation times from days to minutes.
Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) partnered with Anthropic to develop the Financial Crimes AI Agent, an automation tool designed to accelerate anti-money laundering investigations. The agent utilizes Anthropic's Claude model to automatically gather evidence from core banking systems and compare activities against patterns of illicit behavior to generate ranked case files.
FIS reports that the tool can reduce investigation timelines from several days to just minutes. To ensure traceability and allow the company to eventually scale the technology independently, the partnership includes embedded Anthropic engineers. The capability is scheduled for general availability in the second half of 2026.
Following the launch of the financial crimes tool, FIS plans to expand the platform to include agentic AI for fraud prevention, customer onboarding, deposit retention, and credit decisions. The company intends to position itself as a governing layer and trusted provider that manages the data and agents interacting with bank customers.
