Bessemer Venture Partners Raises $5.75 Billion for AI Growth

Bessemer Venture Partners raised $5.75 billion to increase growth-stage investments, citing the capital-intensive nature of AI and a trend of companies staying private longer.

Bessemer Venture Partners raised $5.75 billion in new funding to expand its focus on growth-stage investments. The firm allocated $4 billion toward growth-stage financings for companies raising large rounds at high valuations, while designating $1.75 billion for early-stage startups.

The total funding is distributed across a $3.4 billion flagship fund, a $1.85 billion growth vehicle, and $500 million raised through separate vehicles with limited partners. Bessemer intends to deploy these funds over the next three to four years, targeting approximately two dozen growth-stage companies.

Partner Byron Deeter stated that the strategic shift is driven by the capital-intensive nature of artificial intelligence startups and a permanent structural shift where companies remain private longer. This move follows a broader industry trend of expanding growth checkbooks, similar to recent raises by Sequoia Capital and Menlo Ventures. Additionally, partner David Cowan highlighted the firm's efforts to attract technical founders through the Bessemer Beam program.
