Wall Street AI Job Listings Surge 49 Percent

Major U.S. banks increased AI-related job postings by 49 percent this year, focusing heavily on agent orchestration and internal workforce reskilling.

AI-related job listings at major Wall Street banks, including JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Capital One, surged 49 percent this year to 139,819 posts. According to an analysis by hiring data firm Draup, the most explosive growth occurred in agent orchestration—the design of multiple AI agents to collaborate on complex tasks—which saw a 1,721 percent increase in references.

Vijay Swaminathan, CEO of Draup, noted that banks are shifting away from simple chatbots toward forward-deployed engineers who combine technical AI expertise with specific domain knowledge. Other high-growth areas include governance, risk management, and responsible AI, the latter of which saw references jump 657 percent.

To fill these specialized roles, financial institutions are implementing internal reskilling programs. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon stated that the adoption of AI will lead to huge redeployment plans for the workforce as the industry integrates these technologies into specific business lines.
