Novo Nordisk Partners With Anthropic to Accelerate Drug Discovery

Novo Nordisk announced a collaboration with Anthropic on Wednesday to accelerate drug discovery and software development. The Danish pharmaceutical company will integrate Claude Science and other frontier models to address biological reasoning challenges and specific scientific workflows identified by its research and development teams.

CEO Mike Doustdar stated the partnership aims to increase productivity and compress the timeline from research to market for treatments targeting chronic diseases. To ensure compliance, the agreement incorporates human oversight and strict data governance protocols.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei noted that AI capability could potentially compress a century of biological and medical breakthroughs into a single decade. This move follows previous AI agreements Novo Nordisk established with Amazon Web Services and OpenAI, and mirrors a similar partnership between Anthropic and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
