Russia Awaits Armenia-Azerbaijan Agreement on 3+3 Platform Meetings

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation announced it is waiting for Armenia and Azerbaijan to agree on the sequence and locations for future meetings of the 3+3 regional platform. The platform, which also includes Georgia, Türkiye, and Iran, aims to address trade, security, and transport links in the South Caucasus, though Georgia does not effectively participate.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova noted that an expert-level meeting held on June 5 during the 2026 St. Petersburg Forum emphasized a focus on non-politicized, mutually beneficial economic projects. While Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov proposed holding meetings first in Azerbaijan and then in Armenia, Armenia has not supported that specific order. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin expressed hope that the next meeting will occur in either Baku or Yerevan while bilateral negotiations continue.

In a separate statement, Moscow reaffirmed its readiness to assist Armenia and Azerbaijan in the full normalization of their relations. The Russian government specified that its support includes the conclusion of a peace treaty, border delimitation, and the unblocking of transport communications to ensure stability in the region.
