Future Fund CEO Raphael Arndt to Step Down

Raphael Arndt will resign as CEO of Australia's A$356 billion Future Fund at the end of the year to return to the private sector.

Raphael Arndt will step down as Chief Executive Officer of the Future Fund, Australia's A$356 billion sovereign wealth fund, at the end of the year. Arndt is the longest-serving CEO in the fund's 20-year history, having spent six years in the top role following a six-year tenure as chief investment officer.

Under Arndt's leadership, the fund generated a 14.8% return for the year ending in June, totaling approximately A$37 billion. These gains were driven by investments in active equity, hedge funds, and private markets. His departure follows other recent leadership changes, including the exit of former chief investment officer Ben Samild and two senior private markets executives.

Arndt stated that he leaves the organization with a highly capable leadership team and a strong board. Greg Combet, Chair of the Future Fund, noted that Arndt leaves the fund well positioned to continue strong investment performance in the future.
