EU Sanctions Former RT France Head Xenia Fedorova

The European Union imposed sanctions on Xenia Fedorova, a Russian commentator and former head of RT France, on Thursday. The move follows a court ruling in France that found Fedorova disseminated pro-Kremlin propaganda and pro-Russian narratives during the war in Ukraine.

Fedorova was expelled from France in August. The EU's Official Journal identified her as a key figure active in spreading pro-Moscow narratives within both France and the broader Union. Fedorova, who previously worked for media outlets owned by Vincent Bollore, has described the accusations as "censorship" and noted she was outside the country when the deportation order took effect.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot stated that France and the EU remain determined to thwart Russia's destabilizing activities. He added that those who carry out hostile actions against democracy will face consequences.
