Innodata and BigBear.ai Expand AI Operations and Government Contracts

Innodata and BigBear.ai are scaling their AI capabilities through a new self-serve platform and a $900 million U.S. Air Force contract, respectively.

Two artificial intelligence firms are scaling their operations through strategic leadership changes and major government agreements. Innodata reported second-quarter revenue of $92.1 million, marking a 58% increase year-over-year. The company is currently transitioning its business model from providing data-labeling services to operating a self-serve data platform. This shift follows the appointment of Rahul Singhal as CEO at the end of September, succeeding Jack Abuhoff.

Simultaneously, BigBear.ai secured a 10-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract with the United States Air Force valued at up to $900 million. To enhance its support for Department of Defense missions, BigBear.ai is integrating the generative AI platform Ask Sage into its existing analytics software.

Despite these growth initiatives and revenue gains, both companies continue to face financial volatility. Both firms struggle with profitability, and their stock prices remain significantly below their 52-week highs.
