Maryland Implements 300 New Laws Including Anti-Dynamic Pricing
Governor Wes Moore signed nearly 300 new laws taking effect October 1, targeting predatory grocery pricing and law enforcement transparency.
Wes Moore, the Governor of Maryland, signed nearly 300 new laws that take effect on October 1 following the 2026 legislative session. The legislation addresses a wide range of issues, including healthcare, housing, and gun ownership.
One central measure is the Protection From Predatory Pricing Act. This first-in-the-nation law prohibits third-party delivery services and large food retailers from using dynamic pricing or consumer surveillance data to charge individual customers higher prices.
Additional laws focus on law enforcement transparency. New regulations prohibit officers, including agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, from wearing masks or face coverings while on duty. The Maryland Police Training and Standards Commission must develop a uniform policy requiring officers to display their badge number, agency, and last name. Officers who fail to comply with these identification requirements face civil penalties of up to $1,500.
