Costco Expands US Delivery via DoorDash and Uber Eats
Costco is expanding its US delivery footprint through new nationwide partnerships with DoorDash and an expanded agreement with Uber Eats.
Costco Wholesale Corporation expanded its United States delivery capabilities on September 17, 2026, by launching a nationwide partnership with DoorDash and expanding its existing agreement with Uber Eats. The DoorDash partnership allows members to order groceries, electronics, and household essentials for same-day local delivery, building on previous collaborations in Puerto Rico, Australia, and Sweden. To access the service, users must link an active membership to their DoorDash account, though non-members can purchase memberships directly through the app.
Simultaneously, Uber Eats expanded its Costco delivery service from 17 states to 47. These moves increase competition for Instacart, which has partnered with Costco since 2017 and recently introduced credits for executive members. While DoorDash and Uber Eats utilize gig workers to fulfill orders from retail shelves, Amazon.com, Inc. is investing in a proprietary warehouse network for rapid grocery delivery.
Executives from the delivery platforms highlighted the strategic importance of the expansion. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi described retail sales as a "trillion-dollar opportunity," while DoorDash CEO Tony Xu suggested that grocery partnerships provide a competitive advantage over Amazon.
