Libya Oil Sector Generates 15.2 Billion Dollars in 2026

The Ministry of Oil and Gas of Libya reported that the national oil sector generated approximately 15.2 billion U.S. dollars in revenue between January 1 and August 31, 2026. This financial data, released as part of a broader effort to increase transparency and disclosure regarding the sector's contribution to the national economy, identifies crude oil exports as the primary driver of income.

Crude oil exports accounted for 11.9 billion dollars of the total revenue. Oil-related taxes and royalties contributed 2.4 billion dollars, while the sale of natural gas, condensates, and petroleum products generated an additional 900 million dollars.

Although the energy sector remains the primary source of public revenue and foreign currency for Libya, the ministry noted that the existing infrastructure requires further technological upgrades and investment to increase overall production levels.
